Right after the ceremony at the Justice of the Peace in Oakland, CA. Grandma Lawson took the picture - and then they went to dinner. No fancy wedding for them - and Father had to pay for the dinner.
I wonder if they thought it'd last 67 years? I think not... but then again there was a war on, and who knew what the next year would bring? Carpe Diem and all that...
Well, they siezed that day, and many, many more. Over 24,000 of them, in fact.
My lovely bride and I have been married 17 years, over 6200 days. Only 50 years and we'll have caught up to them.
My thanks to you all.
J.

Goodness, what a stunner! And a fashion plate, too. I've only seen hats like that in the movies. Looks like something Rosalind Russell would have worn.
What a wonderful souvenir of the past.

Mother always did like being stylish and fashionable, up til about the mid-late '60s. I think she was really bummed when women's hats went out of style...
Of course, the '60s weren't exactly fashion friendly for middle-aged women.
But for the '40s? Father knew he had himself a real catch!
