That didn't, for once, get swept under the table.
Captain's QuartersFair, honest government. I guess it's honest within certain definitions of the word, rather like the old joke about 2+2 equalling 5, for certain values of 2.Faced with a clear example of vote fraud, the House has agreed to investigate .. itself. The day after Democratic leadership in the House attempted to nullify a completed floor vote, the Majority Leader had to issue an apology and agree to an extraordinary bipartisan panel to probe the actions of House leadership
And THESE are the folks who want control of the White House in 2008? (To be fair, so do the Republicans... and anyone else running for President.) But just how screwed up do the Democrats have to be before they knock themselves out of the political system altogether?

So where are all of the "there's no difference between the Democrats and the Republicans on immigration" clowns now?No, they don't qualify as 'unadulterated scum' - they're more like dilute scum. Unadulterated scum would be MUCH more effective, but the folks in office now? Or, as Dr. Evil in the Austin Powers series would put it, slightly modified... "You're semi-scum. You're quasi-scum. You're the margarine of scum. You're the Diet Coke of scum. Just one calorie, not scummy enough."Good job sitting out the last election in order to "send a message". Well, the worthless, corrupt, incompetent, vile Democrats you allowed into office, just rigged a vote in order to shovel even more money at illegal immigrants.
Happy now? You really showed the Republicans.
So what's the plan for the next election, sit on the sidelines again, in order to let the Democrats steal additional votes?
Remember, brave Americans died in order for you to sit home on election day, so that you can "send a message" and allow leftwing idiots to vote unadulterated scum like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi into public office.
It'd almost be laughable... but remember, these are the folks who want to inflict universal health care on the US. Why does anyone think they'll be able to get THAT passed in an effective and efficient manner?

Yes the junk being done by the Ds is worse than the Rs, but only by a matter of degree not of kind. This has been about the concept of our representative government no longer being representative and the problems seen with the D are worse only in degree from the R. We still have:
1) rampant spending and, if memory serves, some of the R party were wondering if the tax cuts of 2001-2 should remain, all about that revenue, you know,
2) increased size of bureaucracy - remember that it was with R control that DHS got stood up and the DNI was put in place and NEITHER has worked well, and have only increased time lag in the INTEL system. We are actually *less* safe today than 9/10.
3) Under the R control the House leadership tried to shield *any* member from FBI investigation, and the court ruling against the seizure of documents was only against certain documents not a blanket 'cannot do this' ruling. The Executive with the assent of the Judicial can, indeed, investigate the Legislative. Contrary to what the R House leadership thought.
4) Last year the Senate, under R control, tried to pass its immigration reform which actually gave away goodies to illegals. Mind you neither addressed essentials of securing the border and port safety.
5) Congress for 4 years has done very, very little to scope out the size and needs of the Armed Forces which is their actual *job*. Relying on military reports is NOT ENOUGH to properly scope the size of global problems and threats to the Nation and Congress, by abdicating that role for nearly two decades has decided that their Constitutional role is that of pork provider and rubber stamp.
6) From both D and R Upon the Hill we get this bleating about government paperwork and then do NOT hold the mirror up to realize it is their mandates that cause such paperwork. Nor for any of their other, real duties... beyond that of passing money out to their friends from the public coffers.
The disease is Big Governmentitis and both parties have a fatal case of it. While the Ds fail their own benchmarks the decline in representative democracy has been visible for DECADES. This current set of elected bozos are no more legitimate than what happened in Weimar Germany when the National Socialists got elected. Actually, quite the reverse as the National Socialists got far more support from their Nation as a whole than the ruling majority in the US. And that from a multiparty system!
Electing from the R side is no *help* and their contribution to the downhill slide in representative government has been from a different vector, but it has been downhill. We are warned that what we see today are 'failure states' of republics and democracies. These warnings are not modern and date back to 1787-9. Electing one of the two current parties will not change that as we no longer have meaningful representative democracy as the founders saw it and the problems they saw with less than representative democracy are what we see *today*. This is what they were trying to warn us about. More partisanship will just make it worse, and tyranny is the result.
