At the thought of change of the status quo, with France sliding into economic trouble and difficulties abounding in the country, when any suggestions are offered the immediate thought by the students is to go on strike. (Strike? Like they're doing something economically useful in the first place?)
Anti-Sarkozy protests in Paris, students strike | ReutersYou know, it's hard to see a country like France go downhill, especially when it's own people are greasing the skids and determined to enjoy the ride... as long as it lasts.PARIS (Reuters) - French police arrested more than 100 demonstrators and hundreds of students went on strike at a Paris university as left-wing protests against president-elect Nicolas Sarkozy continued for a fourth night on Wednesday.
Some 300-400 demonstrators gathered on the Boulevard St Michel in the Latin Quarter of Paris, ostensibly to protest against a march by far-right supporters.
Shouting slogans like "Sarko fascist! The people will have your hide!" and "Police everywhere, justice nowhere!", the demonstrators were cornered by hundreds of police close to the nearby Luxembourg Gardens.

Rob to Bucky the Katt in the Get Fuzzy strip describing a new speed type: "After Satchel yelled at you, you ran by my door faster than a French Border Guard with track shoes and a coupon for cigarettes."
That is the unit that moves France - the cigarette depletion/distance unit. The French will put up with anything so long as they have their Galois cigarettes.
Burning cars is not serious.
Antisemitism is not serious.
Murder is only somewhat serious if their cigarettes were damaged.
A soon as the rioters get to the cigarette supplies for France, *then* things will get nasty as there is nothing more irritable than a Frenchman without cigarettes. Nicotine withdrawal will do it! Yes, addiction will *save* France, mark my words... and the 'cordon sanitaire' will come around again, just so that Frenchmen can get some time off for a smoke break.

Fascist. They keep using that word, but I do not think it means what they think it means.
Maybe nicotine will be the saving of France. We can hope.

Yes, indeed, Fascism is overused and overplayed and overtrumpted by the Left as the be-all, end-all of things to fight against. Not that they bother to *define* it! Had to do that for those who are a bit clueless about Islamofascism which is something of a worry. I mean if you can't actually define it, how can you say something is or is not Fascistic in outlook? That is a great help, once done, as the number of points pointing to it allow for something like China to be seen as Fascistic in behavior. Not that anybody really wants to look there and see what is happening... pity that....
We have become so ingrained on how we look at things that actually using the words with their original definitions appears to have flown out the window. That of course, was predicted by Orwell: duckspeak.
And don't even get me started on how misapplied 'Nationalism' is! Strange times where words no longer mean anything and can be used to castigate but not defend oneself. No good will come of that...

I don't think so Jerry.
Nicotine is a sloooow acting carcinogen.
Smokers usually have twenty years or more after they start smoking before the coffin nails finally do them in.
Since not even the French usually start smoking much before puberty sets in this gives them time enough to raise then next generation of French patriots and to pass on their poisonous ideas to them.

otpu - It isn't the addiction, its the craving once it is cut off... that will drive the French wild.
Take away Liberties? Well, all in a good cause...
Take away Freedoms? Well, the government does know best...
Take away cigarettes? Mon dieu! Revolution!
