One-Strike Political Shopping

There are certain times in a political campaign where single, simple mistakes can totally change the persona that's been crafted and disqualify a candidate. You remember, of course, the Dean Scream, the Dukakis Tank Ride, the Hart boat trip. And in these days of a 24/7 media cycle, I'm thinking the candidate that makes the fewest mistake or gaffs is going to end up the front runner.

And of course there are certain hot-button issues that candidates will be wise to not even approach, but may not be able to help themselves. Abortion is one, taxes another. Hell, I MIGHT even vote for Ron Paul if he makes one primary plank the FairTax - though I'd have to hold my nose and take a dose of Phenergan to manage it. (Note - that's MIGHT as in I MIGHT win the lottery if I buy a ticket. The odds are extremely, almost ridiculously long, but not totally impossible.)

It'll be interesting to see the last man standing in the two races.

(And no, I don't think Hillary will make it to the top in the Democratic race. Obama MIGHT - but it's difficult to tell.)

These pre-primaries, pre-debate, debates and such must have some entertainment value, I suppose... at least it gives the people involved enough time to store up ammo to use in the upcoming detritus that will manifest itself before all the pre-pre stuff is done and maybe actually get some of the lightest chaff to blow away.

Ron Paul was always a sideshow act, from what I could see, and have no reason to change that view. Apparently suffering from Pat Buchanan 'stopped clock syndrome' of right twice a day. And any currently serving Congresscritter has a big Zero score with me, which eliminates most of the 'field' right there. Mickey Mouse has more credibility than those critters.

The slow implosion of St. Hillary the Mommy-in-Chief-wannabe is interesting. She has flip-flopped faster than John Kerry could and with the bonus of even being less comprehensible! I had thought that to be impossible, but apparently not. Bill is still the massive anchor and it is *him* that still retains her popularity, and I want to see *him* nowhere near the Oval Office on a regular basis. St. Hillary the decline with all the charm of a puff adder and all the smoothness of a Catholic nun handing out ruler slaps in grade school. Whoever she *thinks* is responsible for her decline, save herself or hubby, is going to get it in the political end as she does a 'bend over, grease up' political assassination... as she has done for Bill's opponents over the years. Pity the front-runner if St. Hillary the consigned is in second or third place as that poor individual is not going to see steamroller until it is too late.

Ah, politics!

Free theater!

Too bad it is turning into a comedy of the absurd with our freedoms and rights on the line to be punched out.
