Over at http://Patterico's Pontifications.
If you've been tempted to view the Gitmo detainees as a bunch of peaceful farmers caught up in a bad situation, you won't after you read this.
And if you're thinking we're not abiding by the Geneva Convention re their treatment - we're going well above and beyond any GC requirements here. Don't forget to read the other parts, too.

This has been a great interview.
The Major, and all the Milbloggers I have read, do a far better job of reporting than the MSM.
There is nothing taken out of context, no omissions, no lying or spinning.
MSM "journalists" could learn much from the Major.

He doesn't have to condense anything down to fit in a certain number of words, he doesn't have to slice bits and pieces together to fit a 30 second or one minute spot - I think the worst thing going on these days in regards to reporting is the need to crunch things down to fit a particular time slice, and the training to try to make the viewer/reader sympathetic to the subject. (Or the other way around, haven't had coffee yet this morning.)
The Gitmo situation is VERY complex, and you can't cover it the same way you would a house fire. Not that they don't try...
