8/8/2006 - Federal and StatewideWonder what she's going to blame it on?U.S. Representative, District 4
Democrat
13% of precincts reporting - Votes - Percentage
Henry C. "Hank" Johnson, Jr. 2,581 - 73.8%
Cynthia McKinney - - - - - - - - - 917 - 26.2%
Of course, early returns don't necessarily point the way the election's going to go. Still, I hope McKinney the nutcase has to go find a real job. (Though there's not much future in cop-slugging, and I think Sharpton and Jackson have the race-baiting market sewn up.)
UPDATE: Looks like she's gaining.
Looks like it'll be a close race after all. He's only 17 points ahead...
66% of precincts reporting
Henry C. "Hank" Johnson, Jr. 25,152 - 58.2%
Cynthia McKinney ------------- 18,067 - 41.8%
With 96%, it's at 58.8-41.2. Unless McKinney's got some stuffed ballot boxes somewhere, she's out.
And it looks like Joe Lieberman didn't win his election. Much rejoicing among some Democrats tonight...

On her website she's claiming voting machine irregularities that changed votes for her to votes for Johnson.
Amazingly it seems none of her constituents saw any incidents of the reverse happening.

How do you tell if a black female southern congressperson is lying?
She's above ground.

That's okay, John. I understand. Don't necessarily agree with your sentiments, however - I don't think Denise Majette would fit them. However, Cynthia McKinney does.
Unfortunately.

Update to the update:
11:20 PM - AP just started calling Johnson the Democratic cantidate for the 4th District of Georgia. It's official Cynthia is out of there.
Correction to the correction:
Cynthia is still claiming that voting machine irregularities have caused her to lose votes.
At one campaign stop Tuesday, McKinney said, “We also had a problem at Midway [elementary school polling place], where my name was not on the ballot,” McKinney said.
“My opponent’s name was on the ballot. … We are disappointed that the secretary of state’s office has not dealt adequately with these electronic voting machines and the deficiencties. Also, polling places have opened up and some of the machines were not zero-counted out. … And that is a problem. That is a serious problem.”

I admit I was thinking of currently serving (now lame duck) congress critters rather than well regarded past solons. I hereby offer my most abject apologies to any past (not lame duck) elected public officials who might be offended by my remarks.

Re the McKinney allegations - I wouldn't trust what she says at this point. She's cried wolf once too often. If she doesn't have verfied, notarized, photographic proof (and I'm talking film, not digital) then as far as I'm concerned she doesn't have a case.
She believes she's entitled to it, but that doesn't mean she's going to end up with it. Hope she's managed to hold on to some of the money over theyears, otherwise her next job will be saying "You want fries wid dat?"

I'm glad she is out.
I was starting to think that most of the voters in that precinct were morons.

Sad about Joe, but he will probably win the election as an Independent.
Some thoughts:
Conservative Dems- extinct
Moderate Dems- dwindling
Left Dems, growing.
Alot of money is coming from the far left, and they demand that their representatives follow their agenda, lockstep, or else.
Of course, most Dems are still moderate,
which poses a problem for the left,
and they can't sway independent voters.
The left is more successful in some local elections, but nationally, they are out of touch.
If they nominate a leftist candidate for President, they will lose.
The question is, how many Dems will gamble their careers and move farther left, for the lure of far left money?

Ben -
Cynthia's district was gerrymandered to the max in an attempt to preserve her seat. But a lot of her 'core' in the last election just plain got sick of her, and went to the ABC plan - Anyone But Cynthia. She's gone, and Atlanta's breathing a sigh of relief.
Re Lieberman - It'll be interesting to see what happens up there. I think he's likely going to win. But we'll see.

This politician is no more! Her career has ceased to be! It's expired and gone to meet its maker!
She's a stiff! Bereft of life, she rests in peace! [We wish!] If you hadn't waved a camera in front of her, she’d be pushing up the daisies!
Her mental processes are now history! She's off the twig!
She's kicked the bucket, shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' caucus invisible!!
THIS IS AN EX-CONGRESSWOMAN!!
