This is sickening. But there's a real problem here which I don't think people have paid as much attention to as they should. Can you guess what it is?
Bottle and baby used as bomb | The Daily TelegraphWe're dealing with a literally unprecedented level of fanatacism here, one that even the worst of the Nazi planners or Communist intelligentsia never reached - you're looking at a religious meme that would literally sacrifice it's future in order to strike a blow against the 'enemy'.A HUSBAND and wife arrested in the British terror raids allegedly planned to take their six-month-old baby on a mid-air suicide mission.
Scotland Yard police are quizzing Abdula Ahmed Ali, 25, and his 23-year-old wife Cossor over suspicions they were to use their baby's bottle to hide a liquid bomb. The theory is one of the reasons security chiefs are now insisting mothers taste babies' milk at check-in desks before allowing them to take bottles aboard flights.
The pair are among up to 23 suspects being questioned over a plot to bring down nine airliners over five US cities, killing thousands of people in the air and on the ground.
And how do you fight an enemy that brainwashes it's followers to use THEIR OWN BABY as a prop to hide explosives? This points out to me, in a horrific way, how far they'll go to 'win' against the West. Against civilization as we know it, and as they hate it. How do yoiu reason with that? How do you get it to grudgingly allow YOU to exist?
I fear that soon we're going to have to get over our fantasy that the War on Terror can be won without a whole lot of death and destruction. And by 'whole lot' I'm meaning hundreds of thousands to millions of dead. I thought it might be possible - but it's starting to look like the rot that I thought was minimal is instead pervasive, and the radical meme is extremely strong and contagious.
Militant, radical Islam is not willing to tolerate the existance of other belief systems - even within Islam itself. All you have to do is look at the Sunni-Shia split. If militant Islam didn't have the West to hate, it would consume itself in dozens of little sectarian wars. As it is, we're a great big target and have their attention... for now. The West MUST be subjugated to the will of Islam - or destroyed. There's no other option in their worldview.
I know we're in a generational war. But we'd better get clear on who the enemy is pretty damn quick. We won against Communism because it was a socio-economic meme that couldn't work in the long run against Capitalism. We won't have that advantage against a socio-religious meme, and frankly, aside from open warfare, I don't see much of anything that would work against the sort of indoctrination that could impell parents to blow themselves up with a baby. And that scares me no end, because it's damn hard to fight against insanity like that.
Wholesale death and slaughter's in the cards. Damn.

May I venture a prediction:
Some time in the future, genetic engineering techniques allow terrorists to create explosives out of living human tissue, undetectable by any means whatsoever. By this time, airline passengers have been forced to disrobe completely and travel wearing disposable airline issued smocks. Now, with this last line of defense breeched, and nothing tangible left to ban, governments take the last step left, and ban all travelers from bringing Islam aboard aircraft, even small amounts in sealed containers. Passengers are asked to recite satiric poetry openly and viciously mocking Islam and are tested for reactions, with anyone offended being barred from flight.
Predictable, Muslims are outraged, but safety in air travel improves and insurance costs decline worldwide.

That's the only thing that allows Hezbollah to function is that we think we can win wars militarily with minimal collateral damage. They then use our reluctance to harm "civilians" by blurring the line and mixing in with non-comabatants. At some point, it will come down to us or them, and the gloves will come off. I'm afraid "total war" will be quite the surprise to them. It was to the residents of Dresden, Hamburg, Tokyo, and Hiroshima to name but a few places to experience it.

Ben -
I'm thinking we won't get that far... but it's not far off from a time you'll have to change your clothes at the airport and put on issued underwear and an issue tyvec overall and booties, while your clothes are packed away for the flight.
But at least you'll be able to keep the underwear! Think of the advertising possibilities!

If we wanted to, we could level the playing field right now. A pre-emptive strike during the Hajj, turning Mecca and Medina into glass, followed very shortly afterward (just enough time for Ahmafrigginnutcase to get the word that there was just one too many little 'incidents' and the big ones got dropped) by Tehran and Damascus.
Yeah, we'll hate ourselves in the morning... but at least we'll be around to hate ourselves.

Hey, the world hates us (with a few exceptions) and Israel anyway.
I think it's time to do what Pershing did (they had Islamic fascists back then, too). Humiliate the bastards.
Take terrorist prisoners and shoot them with bullets that have pig blood on them, then bury them with pig remains.
Supposedly, they can't go to paradise
if they are contaminated.
It scared the Islamic radicals so much, that they quit messing with Pershing.
The World hated Israel for bombing Saddams nuke facility, but it saved alot of lives.
The UN, EU, and "world opinion" with all their negotiations and diplomacy, will just get more people killed, before this war is over.
I wish I were wrong.

First you've got to get folks to admit there's a war. There's an awful lot of denial floating around out there.
It's like 'What part of "They really want to kill everyone who doesn't believe like they do" isn't clear?' The first nuke that pops off in a city is going to suddenly put things in perspective. And the group that claims that will likely find itself on the short list for a nuke in return.
