Here comes Microsoft's offer to make the life of the support tech a little more interesting...
2007 Microsoft Office system preview siteYou can even download a beta version.
Sigh.
I think I've got one, maybe two more OS upgrades in me, three or four Office upgrades. New system, new problems, new user issues... Can't say I haven't lacked for work over the years...

Open Office
Gave up on MS once I left work. MS-Office may go take a flying leap for my basic needs... its not perfect, but neither is the MS product... and to those stuck on a corporate baseline: you have my sympathies!

Well, it's what we've got and I don't see them changing out any time soon. But I appreciate the sympathy.
Microsoft, it's been very good to me. I've been employed taking care of their stuff for 22 years now...

LOL! Yes, MS is the 'geek full employment company'... actually most tech companies are just that, save those that make embedded systems. If it requires more than two or three buttons, then things usually go very wrong, very quickly.
Often amazed that *anything* high tech works.
I am not a pusher of OSS or free software, I just tend to use it a lot. 'The proper tool for the proper job' as my father the engineer would say, and I agree completely. I still use Notepad for 95% of my jottings as I really just need a digital scratchpad and not a word processor. Irfanview gets more of a workout than photoshop. It is the little tools that are often the best ones in the toolchest.

Yep, when you look at just HOW complex Windows is (or Linux, or MacOS, or whatever) it's amazing it works at all. Not to mention everything ELSE that makes life today so pleasant, from running water on up...
