Ancient ‘bog men’ make fashion statement - Science - MSNBC.comLooks like they found Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser...LONDON - The 2,300-year-old remains of two men discovered in an Irish bog have revealed a couple of surprises — one used hair gel and the other stood 6-foot-6 (2 meters), the tallest Iron Age body discovered.
“He would have been a giant ... the other man was quite short, about 5 foot, 2 inches,” or 158 centimeters, said Ned Kelly, head of antiquities at the National Museum of Ireland.
“The shorter man appeared to attempt to give himself greater stature by a rather curious headdress which was a bit like a Mohican-style with the hair gel, which was a resin imported from France,” Kelly told BBC radio.
And it looks like a double murder. I blame Fritz Lieber.

I don't remember Mouser having a mohawk, but it's been a LONG time since I read those...
... so wait, I'm supposed to believe they were importing French hair-gell 2300 years ago? FRENCH?!?

As I recall, much was made of Mouser's diminutive stature and also his liking for the better things of life regarding clothes and food (and women, I might add) - so it wouldn't be TOO surprising that he'd use an imported, exotic pomade to make him look a bit, um, taller.
Yeah, French hair gel. Get yourself a time machine, and don't those import/export opportunities REALLY open up!
